Americans for Victory Over Terrorism is a project of Empower America, (founded by William Bennett), and the Claremont Institute in 2002. AVOT claims to “defend America’s war on terrorism against those who would weaken the nation’s resolve and erode our commitment to end the international menace of terrorism.” It sponsors teach-ins at colleges on the war in Iraq and the U.S. War on Terror; and has created a list of statements by faculty and others who dissent from Bush’s policies that it feels present an internal “threat.”
